Five-time Grammy winner Michael McDonald’s new album Wide Open is out Sept 15 on BMG. His first record of entirely new material in almost a decade, Wide Open features performances from Warren Haynes, Robben Ford, Marcus Miller, Branford Marsalis and more.

Following his performance at this year’s Coachella as surprise guest of recent collaborator Thundercat, McDonald chatted about the new album with The Los Angeles Times for the cover of the Sunday Arts Section:
