“Fun Home” Makes Regional Premiere at
Golden Bough Theatre, February 8 – March 4, 2018

Carmel, CA – Celebrating 35 years of theatre excellence, Pacific Repertory Theatre (PacRep) in Carmel-by-the-Sea is kicking off its 2018 season with the multiaward winning musical, Fun Home, February 8 – March 4, 2018 at the Golden Bough Theatre. Hailed as a “unique” Broadway musical that “surprises and enlightens”, Fun Home is the winner of five 2015 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Based upon Alison Bechdel’s best-selling memoir, Fun Home introduces us to Alison at three different ages, as she explores and unravels the mysteries of her childhood.

This refreshingly honest musical is about growing up, maturing, and seeing your parents through adult eyes. The story concerns Bechdel’s discovery of her own sexuality, her relationship with her father, and her attempts to unlock the mysteries surrounding his life. The musical has been hailed by audiences and critics alike as one of the most “groundbreaking”, “uplifting”, and “exquisite” new works ever to come to the American stage.

Directed by PacRep founder and executive director Stephen Moorer, the production will feature a cast of 9 performers, and stars River Navaille as Alison Bechdel, Adam Saucedo as Bruce Bechdel, Jennifer Newman as Helen Bechtel, Sylvie Pratt as Medium Alison, and Colette Gsell and Lily Bunch sharing the role of Young Alison. Also appearing in the production are Michael Blackburn, Niki Moon, Riley Mabry, Eva Ushakoff, Meredith Evans, and Averil Mabry.

PacRep’s Fun Home has two discount previews, Thursday, February 8 and Friday, February 9 at 7:30pm, opening on Saturday February 10 at 7:30pm, followed by a 2:00 pm matinee on Sunday, February 11 at 2:00pm. Performances continue Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm, weekends thru March 4. February 18 & 25 Talk Back Sessions. After the play, audiences will be invited to a free, brief, post-show conversation with members of the cast and Speakers for the GLBTQIA community to engage, learn about the production, and share your insights about the play in a lively discussion. Moderated by Fun Home assistant director Sam Trevino, and speakers from Rainbow Speakers and Friends.
