THE SANTA CRUZ SYMPHONY STRIKES BACK!

POPS CONCERT –  7:30 PM JUNE 2, 2018
STREET PARTY – 5:30 PM in front of the Civic

A dinosaur is on the loose from Jurassic Park and threatens to stampede the Pops Street Party!  Fortunately, a Jurassic Park ranger will be on hand in his official jeep at our Street Party starting at 5:30 pm to protect the party-goers.  Take lots of photos so we can be sure to spot any loose dinosaurs!

That’s not all.

Darth Vader was last seen in Santa Cruz in 2014 and, upon capturing Danny, was overheard to say, “There is no escape. Don’t make me destroy you. Danny, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this Power of Music and bring cacophony to the galaxy.”

Storm Troopers have been spotted in the area and are expected to congregate near the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium on June 2.  You will know who they are because of their white uniforms. Dress as one of them, an Extra Terrestrial, or any other character from a John Williams movie and enter into the Costume Contest at 6:45 pm to foil their attempts at control. (Categories for both adults and children!)

Wizards may also be wandering about. The 2017 Baton Winner might be spotted waving his wand to conduct the Symphony. Who knows? He just might create some errant fireworks with his magic. If we work together we can find a new Baton Winner to help save the Symphony!

Most importantly, bid on our live auction items. By doing this, you will give power to the Positive Force of Music Education and help us rescue Danny, the Santa Cruz Symphony and our Music Education programs!

Get to the Street Party by 5:30 and enjoy some yummy food from the Ate3One Food Truck and be entertained by Rose & The Honeysuckers.

John Williams is undeniably the most recognizable and prolific composer for movie music. Come enjoy this concert of classic themes from movies such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Catch Me If You Can, E.T., Jurassic Park, and the original Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The festivities begin with our Street Party, starting at 5:30 pm in front of the Civic.  Proceeds benefit the Santa Cruz Symphony’s Music Education Programs.
