El Paso named one of the “Best Places to Live and Work in as a Moviemaker” by MovieMaker Magazine

The City of El Paso and Destination El Paso’s Film & Creative Industries Commission proudly announce El Paso’s ranking in MovieMaker’s 2024 “Best Places to Live and Work in as a Moviemaker” annual report.

MovieMaker is a Hollywood-based magazine publishing the art and craft of movies and cinematic TV. El Paso was named the 25th best city in the United States for moviemakers to live and work in, based on the magazine’s qualifying factors. MovieMaker determines a city’s ranking based on the city’s cost of living and production resources. El Paso’s affordable cost of living, prime location and available resources for film and TV makers appeal greatly to prospective creatives searching for an inclusive creative community.

Additional factors include the city and surrounding region’s notable film festivals, theatres, filmmakers and filming locations. El Paso holds several annual film festivals including the El Paso Film Festival, Femme Frontera Film Festival, Plaza Classic Film Festival, El Paso Media Fest, Oculto Horror Film Fest and several others across New Mexico and cultural screenings in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua.

“El Paso is a city on the rise for individuals in the creative industry. The city’s affordability, prominent film locations and growing number of films and TV shows allow filmmakers countless opportunities to thrive in their professions,” said El Paso’s Film & Creative Industries Commissioner Drew Mayer-Oakes.
