La legendaria banda británica The Cure regresará este verano con Mixes of a Lost World, una colección de remixes concebida y compilada por Robert Smith. El álbum, que reinterpreta por completo su aclamado disco de 2024 Songs of a Lost World, se lanzará el 13 de junio a través de Fiction/Capitol Records. Más que un simple lanzamiento, este proyecto donará todas las regalías de grabación de la banda a la organización humanitaria War Child UK.
Este viaje musical reúne a 24 artistas y remixers de renombre internacional como Four Tet, Paul Oakenfold, Orbital, Mogwai, Chino Moreno (Deftones), 65daysofstatic y muchos más, quienes transforman las ocho pistas del álbum original en nuevas experiencias electrónicas, atmosféricas y profundamente emotivas. Según Robert Smith, “la curiosidad por cómo sonaría todo el disco reinterpretado por otros artistas resultó en un viaje fabuloso, más allá de lo que alguna vez imaginé”.
La edición deluxe estará disponible en formatos 3LP, 3CD y 3MC, con versiones que incluyen tanto los remixes como las reinterpretaciones artísticas de las canciones originales. También habrá ediciones estándar en 2LP, 2CD y 2MC que se centran exclusivamente en los remixes. Cada formato incluye presentaciones físicas especiales, desde vinilos de alta calidad y carteles desplegables hasta cassettes de colección, muchos de ellos exclusivos en la tienda oficial de The Cure: shopuk.thecure.com.
Desde su formación en 1978, The Cure ha vendido más de 30 millones de discos, encabezado Glastonbury en cuatro ocasiones y fue incluida en el Salón de la Fama del Rock and Roll en 2019. Su más reciente álbum, Songs of a Lost World, debutó en el puesto #1 en 15 países y alcanzó el top 5 en siete más, incluyendo el #4 en EE.UU.
Además, el arte visual de esta nueva entrega ha sido “remezclado” por Andy Vella, colaborador histórico de la banda, quien se inspira nuevamente en Bagatelle, una escultura de 1975 del artista Janez Pirnat, tal como lo hizo en el álbum original.
