The highly popular and influential science advocate and author, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson brings “An Astrophysicist Reads the Newspaper” show to the Center for the Performing Arts on March 26. A regular guest on The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and host of his own enduring radio show StarTalk, Tyson, continually inspires generations old and new to take an interest in the universe around them.

Tyson’s latest book, Accessory to War – The Unspoken Alliance Between Astrophysics and the Military – was released this year and is currently on the New York Times Best Sellers list.

Additionally, he has taken on the challenge of updating Carl Sagan’s definitive 1980 television series ‘Cosmos: A Personal Voyage’ with ‘Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,’ asking questions about the abyss of space.

Tyson is the recipient of twenty honorary doctorates and the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, the highest award given by NASA to a non-government citizen. His contributions to the public appreciation of the cosmos have been recognized by the International Astronomical Union in their official naming of asteroid 13123 Tyson. On the lighter side, Tyson was voted Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive by People Magazine in 2000.

He is also the fifth head of the world-renowned Hayden Planetarium in New York City, the first occupant of its Frederick P. Rose Directorship and a research associate of the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History.
