YOSAL presents ‘Spring Classics’
End-of-year concert will engage the audience’s senses
Salinas, Calif. – On Sunday, May 19, 2019, Youth Orchestra Salinas (YOSAL) presents the end of the school year concert “Spring Classics” at Hartnell College’s Mainstage (bldg. K) located at 411 Central Avenue, Salinas California. Admission is free to the community at large. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the concert starts promptly at 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will be offered after the concert.
“This is the culmination of long hours of planning and practice for our teaching artists and the students,” said Executive Director, Esmeralda Montenegro Owen. “I am so proud of the YOSAL staff and the students. They have worked collaboratively to give the community yet another great performance.”
“Spring Classics” will feature fun and lively works from Brahms, Vivaldi, Grieg, Haydn, and others performed by the Pre-Orchestra and Orchestra ensembles. A promotion ceremony will also feature students moving up to Orchestra, and student speakers will share about their passion for music.
YOSAL is a non-profit organization that provides a free after school orchestra and classical music program that operates year-round. During the regular school year and summer programs, more than 275 students are served with music instruction, 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. daily. In addition, snack, home work time, and on-site counseling are offered.
Students and faculty perform at more than 20 sites throughout the year; this experience helps students showcase their craft, talent, and showmanship while increasing their confidence and cognitive development.
YOSAL’s mission is to transform the lives of our youth and our communities through the inspiration, discipline, and performance of classical and orchestral music.
The presenting sponsor for this concert is Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System.
