Salinas, Calif. – On Thursday, July 25, 2019, Youth Orchestra Salinas (YOSAL) presents its annual Summer Palooza, a festive family event that celebrates the end of summer programming. Summer Palooza 2019 will be at YOSAL’s new home, The Vineyard Church located at 1122 E. Alisal Street, Salinas California. It will be open to YOSAL students, family, and friends from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

The Palooza will include fun and games for the entire family with prizes at every stop. A popular ‘cake walk’ will add a sweet touch to the festivities, plus jump houses for those who need a bit of excitement. Admission is free to all guests.

The pre-orchestra and orchestra students will be led by their teaching artists at 4:00 p.m. to showcase some of the music they have learned during the six-week summer program.  At 5:00 p.m., YOSAL in collaboration with The Vineyard Church will host an outdoor burger and hot dog feast with all the trimmings.

During the six-week summer program, more than 130 students have participated in daily music education and activities.

YOSAL is a non-profit organization that provides a free after school orchestra and classical music program that operates year-round. During the regular school year and summer programs, more than 275 students are served with music instruction, 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. daily. In addition, snack, home work time, and on-site counseling are offered.

Students and faculty perform at more than 20 sites throughout the year; this experience helps students showcase their craft, talent, and showmanship while increasing their confidence and cognitive development.

YOSAL’s mission is to transform the lives of our youth and our communities through the inspiration, discipline, and performance of classical and orchestral music.
