THE 39TH EDITION OF THE STEINBECK FESTIVAL, “STEINBECK COUNTRY UNITED”, HAS RELEASED ITS INITIAL LINEUP OF THEIR VIRTUAL GLOBAL FESTIVAL, TAKING PLACE AUGUST 1ST AND 2ND

Among the world-class panelists participating will be award-winning journalist and Pulitzer Prize finalist, William Souder, Provost Emeritus and Professor of English at Drexel University, Dr. Richard Astro, Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences for the University of Oklahoma and National Steinbeck Center Visiting Scholar, Dr. David Wrobel, Founder and Editor of SteinbeckNow.com and the Author of Steinbeck Today, Dr. William Ray, Author and Founder of the Cannery Row Foundation, Michael Hemp, Author and owner of Hauk Fine Arts in Pacific Grove, Stephen Hauk, Author and Professor of Urban Studies at Stanford University, Dr. Carol McKibben, Branch Library Specialist at the Harold A. Miller Library of Stanford University’s Hopkins Marine Station, Don Kohrs, “Steinbeck: Fact and Fiction” Author Shelley Barton-Stroud, Director of the University Theater Group in Guanajuato, Maestro Hugo Gamba Briones, and Professor Pedro Alberto González Guardado from Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores in Los Cabos, Mexico.
This year the National Steinbeck Center will be further expanding its Steinbeck Festival horizons with the participation of Alex Krowiak, Photographer for National Geographic and Matt Ritenour, Cinematographer for National Geographic, as they are recreating the exploration from “Sea of Cortez”. Additionally, “Steinbeck Country United”, being a worldwide event, will feature exciting international participations, including a special presentation from one of Mexico’s top cultural events, “Festival Cervantino” from Guanajuato.
“Steinbeck Country United” will also feature vibrant musical acts with celebrated artists such as, Matt Costa, Atta Boy, which members include lead vocalist Eden Brolin, Josh Brolin’s daughter, and Lewis Pullman on drums, Bill Pullman’s son, Zakiya Hooker, who is John Lee Hooker’s daughter, J.D. King and a local Monterey Bay artist showcase. The entertainment activities at the festival will also include fun games, a cocktail hour with a live mixologist, cooking demonstrations and a live auction for incredible prizes, all of this alongside the interactive expo marketplace in which local and international vendors will showcase their products and services.
