The San Jose Sharks and SAP Partner to Commemorate 30th Anniversary Season

SAN JOSE, CA – The San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), in partnership with SAP (@SAPSports), announced today plans to commemorate the team’s 30th anniversary season. Included in the celebration is the launch of the Sharks 30th anniversary logo that will be worn as a patch on player’s jerseys throughout the season. Additionally, the Sharks will bring back their popular Heritage Jerseys to be worn on select Heritage Theme Nights presented by SAP that will take place throughout the season. Other elements of the celebration include honoring Sharks fans favorite players from each decade, a 30th Anniversary Video Content Series featuring content and highlights from the team’s history, featuring fan-favorite Sharks players from throughout the team’s existence, and much more.

Like anniversary marks from previous Sharks milestone celebrations, the 30th Anniversary Logo reflects the team’s heritage and unique history. The logo is influenced by the classic, art deco-inspired font and crest as well as the team’s historic gray and modern teal colors. Fans will see the 30th Anniversary Logo worn on player’s jerseys throughout the season as well as incorporated in merchandise, specialty content, and experiences throughout the season. The logo will also be displayed at center ice at SAP Center at San Jose.

Additionally, the Sharks will bring back their popular Heritage Jersey to help celebrate the 30th anniversary season. The Heritage Jerseys, first worn during the 2015-16 to celebrate the team’s 25th anniversary, were designed by Terry Smith who created the original Sharks logo and uniforms and many of the other iconic designs associated with the team. The heritage jersey blends the tradition of the original Sharks jersey, worn from 1991 through 1998, with today’s version, including subtle design updates such as utilizing the team’s updated shade of teal and enhancements to the crest and shoulder patches, to maintain the integrity of the original jersey. The Sharks will wear the jerseys at Heritage Theme Nights presented by SAP that will include historical content throughout the game and celebrate 30 years of Sharks hockey on dates to be announced later.

Other elements in celebration of the Sharks 30th Anniversary include:

  • A celebration of teams from the 90’s, 00’s and 10’s that highlight the greatest Sharks players from each decade.
  • 30th Anniversary Video Content Series featuring content and highlights from the team’s history.
  • Activations with fan-favorite Sharks players from throughout the team’s existence.
  • More content celebrating the team’s history.

“The Sharks 30th Anniversary platform allows us to tell stories and engage fans, both in and out of market, while providing an opportunity to reflect on the many moments and personalities that have defined the organization throughout its history,” said Doug Bentz, Vice President of Marketing & Digital for the Sharks. “This celebratory campaign will introduce new activations and promotions throughout the season while bringing back elements of team history that were extremely popular with our fan base including the Heritage Jersey that was introduced five years ago. I’d like to thank SAP for their continued support of Sharks hockey and for being an integral part of our team’s history.”
