Broadway San Jose announces blockbuster 2022/23 season!

SAN JOSE, CA (March 1, 2022) – Broadway San Jose General Manager Gretchen Feyer announced today the six productions that will make up the company’s 2022/23 season. The season kicks off with the triumphant return of the Broadway blockbuster, Disney’s THE LION KING (August 3–21, 2022); the all-new tour of the beloved family-favorite musical, ANNIE (January 10–15, 2023); Lincoln Center Theater’s Tony Award®–nominated production of Lerner & Loewe’s MY FAIR LADY (February 21–26, 2023); the romantic musical comedy, PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL (March 21–26, 2023); the irreverent musical comedy, BEETLEJUICE (August 1–6, 2023); and the electrifying new musical, TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL (August 29–September 3, 2023).  

The 2022/23 season also includes three add-on productions, including Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical, CATS (September 20–25, 2022); the Tony Award® and Grammy Award®–winning musical, BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL (October 28–30, 2022); and the nine-time Tony Award®–winning Best Musical, THE BOOK OF MORMON (November 22–27, 2022).

Broadway San Jose season subscriptions range in price from $246–$704 for the basic six-show package and can be purchased online at broadwaysanjose.com, or by calling (866) 395-2929.  A limited number of President’s Club memberships are available, which include center orchestra seats, access to the President’s Club Lounge with exclusive-use restrooms and bar, complimentary snacks, a welcome gift (for full season subscribers), plus concierge service for purchasing theatre tickets in New York, Chicago, London, and Los Angeles. Season ticket holders receive a significant discount versus regular single ticket prices. Other benefits include preferred seating, ticket exchanges, and special offers. In addition, season ticket holders will be invited to subscriber events and receptions held throughout the year, as well as access to Subscriber Lounges located on each side of the Center for the Performing Arts before every performance and at intermission.

All performances for Broadway San Jose’s 2022/23 season will be held at the 2,600-seat San Jose Center for Performing Arts, unless otherwise noted. San Jose Center for Performing Arts is a mid-century modern architectural showcase designed by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, at the corner of Park Avenue and Almaden Boulevard in downtown San Jose.

She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and, by the time she reached her twenties, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll.  But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice. 

BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.

From Lincoln Center Theater that brought you The King & I and South Pacific, comes “a sumptuous new production of the most perfect musical of all time” (Entertainment Weekly), Lerner & Loewe’s MY FAIR LADY.  Director Bartlett Sher’s glowing production is “thrilling, glorious and better than it ever was” (New York Times).  “Every so often a revival comes along that reminds you how indispensable great theater can be” (NY1).

Boasting such classic songs as “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “The Rain in Spain,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” and “On the Street Where You Live,” MY FAIR LADY tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who is determined to transform her into his idea of a “proper lady.”  But who is really being transformed?

With an irreverent book, an astonishing set, and a score that’s out of this Netherworld, BEETLEJUICE is “SCREAMINGLY GOOD FUN!” (Variety).
