San Jose, CA July 30, 2018 – Attire yourself in your most beautiful princess or faerie finery, don your wings or pick up a wand, belt on a sword or pull on an eye patch, then gather your friends and family and cross the threshold of the San Jose Renaissance Faire and Fantasy Fest where, on August 4-5, characters from time, folklore, and fairy tales will come alive to frolic for a magical spell of time.

Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Discovery Meadow Park, the eighth annual San Jose Renaissance Faire and Fantasy Fest is a family-friendly festival, a blending of historic fact, myth and popular fantasy. You will find yourself a part of a wondrous gathering of knights and princesses, as they stand side-by-side with elves and fairies ad pirates, on a weekend filled with performances to enchant children and grown-ups alike.

Be amazed by costumed characters portraying figures from the pages of your favorite fairytales, myths, and fantasy adventures. Visit the Princess’ court; interact with the ogres and witches, fairies and pirates and bards telling stories of battles and adventures of the netherworld.

Have your fortune told by gypsies, rekindle your love by Sleeping Beauty’s coffin or help Hansel and Gretel find their way home. Hold court with princesses, untangle Rapunzel’s locks and play a game of wits with Rumpelstiltskin.  Swap tales with the pirates or listen to bards telling stories of battles and adventures of the netherworld.

Visitors need not dress the part or be fluent in the Elfish tongue, but period costumes always add to the magic and make it more fun to play.

Gates will open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The cost of admission is $16.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors, military, anyone with a library card and those ages 13-17, $8 for children 6-12. Kids under 6 are FREE
